TOPBUXUS® Boxwood Carpet Mulch was specifically developed for boxwood plants to create a hygienic environment underneath and around the plants. The two distinctive characteristics of the Boxwood Carpet Mulch is that it’s ‘Soft’ and ‘Airy.’ The mulch is ‘Soft’ because it absorbs the rain and stops water from splashing up from the ground potentially contaminating the plant leaves with fungal spores. It’s ‘Airy’ because the mulch dries out quickly.
- Creates a hygienic floor layer underneath and around the Boxwood to prevent Boxwood Blight and other Boxwood fungal diseases.
- Organic mulch made of natural plant materials.
- Mulch should be spread with a thickness of at least 1 inch and at least 8 inches beyond the drip line of the boxwood plant.
- The product lasts up to 3 years. Replenish mulch during seasonal clean up if it’s blown off and removed.
- Can be used all year round!
- 70 Liters for 5m2 (square meters).

How to Use Boxwood Carpet Mulch
Install a light layer of mulch approximately 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick and about 8 inches beyond the drip line of the boxwood plant to create this preventative, clean environment.
You can apply TOPBUXUS® Carpet Mulch all year round. In the case in which Boxwood Blight has been confirmed, follow the Disease Management Protocol by spraying the infected boxwood plants according to the spray schedule with TOPBUXUS® Boxwood Restore & Protect Mix. Then install TOPBUXUS® Carpet Mulch as soon as possible.
TOPBUXUS® Carpet Mulch will last up to 3 years before needing to be replaced. You may need to replenish the mulch during seasonal clean up if it’s blown off and removed. Ideally, you want to maintain the mulch carpet thickness at ½ inch to 1 inch all year round.
Frequently asked questions from our customers
Is the TOPBUXUS Mulch organic?
Answer: Yes. The mulch material is made of natural plant fibers.
What is the difference between TOPBUXUS® Carpet Mulch and other mulch (e.g., Shredded hardwood mulch, pine nuggets, organic composted mulch, or peat moss)?
Answer: TOPBUXUS® Carpet Mulch is a floor covering made specifically for Boxwood to create a hygienic environment underneath and around the plant. TOPBUXUS® Carpet Mulch has two characteristics that differentiate it from the other mulches. It’s ‘Soft’ and ‘Airy.’ The mulch is ‘ Soft’ because it absorbs the rain and stops water from splashing up from the ground potentially contaminating the plant leaves with fungal spores. It’s ‘Airy’ because the mulch dries out quickly. The other mulch types are usually made of heavier natural and organic materials; and the objectives of this type of mulch are soil amendment, weed control and soil moisture conservation.
What other mulch can I use that has a similar effect with Boxwood plants?
Answer: Straw and pine needles work effectively as well.
